Acura unveils teaser for debut electric vehicle, the ZDX

Acura, the opulent and high-performance vehicle brand under Honda’s banner, has unveiled a tantalizing glimpse of its inaugural electric automobile. The curtain-raiser offers merely a tantalizing silhouette of the all-electric 2024 ZDX, with an illuminating grille casting enigmatic shadows.

Yet, it is accompanied by a momentous announcement that the electric marvel will make its grand debut on the esteemed stage of the Monterey Car Week, precisely on the 17th of August.

The 2024 ZDX emerged from the artistic confines of Acura Design Studio, nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Southern California. Retaining certain external elements showcased in the Precision EV Concept during the preceding year’s event stands as a testament to the company’s artistic vision.

Built upon GM’s cutting-edge Ultium battery platform, it might very well be among the select few, if not the sole, Acura model to boast of the modular EV architecture. However, Honda has expressed its intention to utilize the in-house e: Architecture platform for future EVs, with the first models scheduled for release in 2025.

Acura’s June announcement confirmed that the ZDX would come equipped with integrated Android Auto and a suite of other Google products. Among the benefits bestowed upon owners is an enhanced version of Google Maps, capable of charting the most optimized routes replete with charging stations along the way, along with an estimate of the required charging time to reach their destinations.

Moreover, access to the ubiquitous Google Assistant will provide hands-free controls, complemented by the inclusion of Google Play, facilitating the download of third-party apps onto their infotainment systems. As a delightful aural treat, the EV will sport a bespoke Bang & Olufsen audio system.

As a unique approach, Acura has decided to exclusively vend the ZDX and ZDX Type S performance EVs through online channels, commencing early next year. Emile Korkor, the assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, confidently stated that the ZDX Type S will ascend as “the most potent and expeditious accelerating SUV in the annals of the brand’s history.”
