Bumble has introduced a new app called “Bumble For Friends,” which focuses solely on helping users find friends in their local area. This comes seven years after the launch of Bumble BFF, which accounts for 15 percent of monthly active users. The new app was initially tested in the UK and selected regions of Asia earlier this year.

Company For Friends operates similarly to BFF, but with one significant difference: users don’t need to download a dating app to access the feature.

This change is likely to be appreciated by users who are already in committed relationships. Like a dating app, users create profiles with photos, personal information, and responses to prompts.

The profile may include details about drinking habits, political affiliation, relationship status, and reasons for seeking friends. Users can also share interests such as pets or hobbies, which Bumble uses to help match them with potential friends.

One notable addition to Friends is the option to create group chats. Users can add two or more matches to a group chat if they believe the individuals might get along. To use this feature, users can choose from Bumble-suggested activities or create their own in the conversations tab.

They can also name the group chat or choose a suggested title. Invited users will receive a notification with the chat’s title or potential activity.

Bumble For Friends is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users can create new accounts or log into existing ones and transfer their profiles and matches to the new app.

After the transition, their BFF account will disappear from the original app, but they can still use Date or Bizz modes if desired. Bumble doesn’t compel users to switch to the new app, so they have the option to keep all their accounts in one place if they prefer.
