Meta’s got some cool new AI tools in the works for regular folks to use. They’re calling it the Llama 2 model, and it’s all about generative AI. This means they’re working on stuff for Instagram that will let users spot when a picture was “generated by Meta AI.”

This info comes from screenshots shared by a tech whiz named Alessandro Paluzzi, who often gives us sneak peeks at unreleased stuff from Meta’s apps. In one of those screenshots, there’s a message that says pretty soon, posts made with generative AI tools on Instagram will be tagged

It will say something like, “Hey, this content was created or edited with AI, courtesy of Meta.” And there will be extra labels saying it was “generated by Meta AI,” so it’s easy to know.

Meta isn’t saying much about this yet, though. When asked, they kept quiet. But it looks like they want to help users know when AI is being used to create content, just like Google and other AI companies.

The worry is that generative AI might get used to spread false info or trick people. So, a bunch of AI companies, including Meta, made a promise to take safety measures, like putting watermarks on AI-made content.

Mark Zuckerberg, the big boss at Meta, has been dropping hints about their plans too. He said in an earnings call that they’re building new products with Llama.

And he’s got some cool ideas for how AI could help folks on their apps, like creative tools to make sharing content more fun, assistants to help you out, and other nifty stuff.

Alessandro Paluzzi also found signs of other AI-powered tools for Instagram, like a feature to summarize long DMs and new artistic tools for editing Stories. It looks like Meta’s got some exciting stuff coming our way!
