The company owned by Meta recently unveiled two exciting additions to Instagram Notes, also known as the small text bubbles, that appear next to your friends’ names on the Instagram Direct Message (DM) page. This feature, which was previously limited to short text and emojis, now encompasses music and translations, expanding its functionality and enhancing user experience.

In a reminiscent nod to the long-gone era of AIM away messages, Instagram Notes, now offers a new feature that allows users to share a 30-second clip of a song within their notes. This auditory addition enables users to convey their message through music, accompanied by a caption, allowing for precise targeting of specific audiences, whether they be lovers, ex-lovers, friends, or even foes.

Instagram Notes Expands Functionality with Music and Translation Features

Including a song in your note is a straightforward process. Simply navigate to the DM page and click the “plus” button located next to your profile photo. Below the usual note composition area, you will find a music note icon.

Clicking on it will take you to a page similar to the one used for adding songs to Instagram Stories. From there, you can search for your desired song, select a 30-second clip, optionally add some text, and click “done” at the top right corner to post your musical note.

Instagram has introduced another exciting feature for Notes, enabling users to easily translate them. By simply tapping on a Note, users can instantly access its translation. This convenient functionality allows for a seamless understanding of Notes in different languages.

Instagram introduced Notes to its platform in December 2022, but the response from the majority of Instagram users has been largely indifferent. However, it seems that teenagers have embraced this feature with enthusiasm, as it resonates well with their preferences and interests.

According to Meta, teenagers in the United States are actively embracing the Notes feature at a rate ten times higher than adults. In the past six weeks alone, over 100 million teen accounts have shared Notes, and approximately one-fifth of Notes created by teens receive a reply.

These statistics highlight the significant engagement of teenagers with this feature, and it becomes evident why the new addition is specifically tailored to cater to this demographic.
