Netflix is reuniting the crew for a new adventure called “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off,” an anime adaptation of the beloved Scott Pilgrim graphic novels. They’ve just unveiled a sneak peek for the upcoming eight-episode series.

The story revolves around the main character’s journey as he competes in a battle of the bands competition while also facing off against his girlfriend’s seven exes, who happen to be evil.

This anime follows in the footsteps of the 2010 movie “Scott Pilgrim Takes vs. the World,” which was based on the graphic novels.

What’s exciting is that the core cast from Edgar Wright’s film is coming back to reprise their roles in the series. That means we’ll see Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, and Brie Larson as “Envy” Adams.

The teaser gives us a taste of the visuals we’ve grown to love from both the movie and the graphic novels. There’s a scene where Scott blocks an airborne attack from Matthew Patel with his arm, and we catch a glimpse of his band’s rehearsal space, Sex Bob-Omb.

Ramona also drags Scott through space toward a star-marked door, and the couple sits together on a swing set. Although I don’t recall any dinosaurs in the film, they seem to make an appearance here.

Leading the show is Bryan Lee O’Malley, the mind behind the graphic novels, who serves as one of the showrunners. Edgar Wright is on board as an executive producer, ensuring the show captures the essence of the series.

The director of the series is Abel Gongora, working with the animation studio Science Saru, known for projects like “Star Wars: Visions” and “Devilman Crybaby.” Adding to the excitement, “Scott Pilgrim Takes” features new music by Anamanaguchi, the fantastic chiptune band that created the soundtrack for the “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” video game.

As someone who holds “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” in high regard as a favorite film of the 2010s, this teaser genuinely captures the universe’s style and spirit. I’m already eagerly anticipating November 17th when “Scott Pilgrim” arrives on Netflix.
