watchOS 10 has arrived, bringing widgets back to the Apple Watch

Apple Watch

WatchOS 10 : Apple users have reason to celebrate today, as the company is initiating significant operating system upgrades for the majority of its devices (Mac users will have to exercise some patience). Just before the impending release of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 later this week, Apple has unleashed watchOS 10.

If you happen to own an Apple Watch Series 4 or a more recent model, you can go ahead and install it right away. The most prominent alteration involves the introduction of widgets, which are somewhat reminiscent of Apple’s original wearable Glances.

These widgets are now accessible on every watch face, with two fresh additions to the lineup. You can conveniently navigate through your widgets using the Digital Crown, gaining quick access to features like timers, stopwatches, and active podcasts.

The watchOS 10 World Clock application has also received an upgrade, making it simpler to grasp the time in various parts of the world at a glance, thanks to dynamic background colors corresponding to different time zones.

In the Activity app, you can now turn the crown to unveil additional data through corner shortcuts. Cyclists will appreciate the option to connect to Bluetooth bike sensors for enhanced data tracking. Additionally, the Compass, Mindfulness, and Medications apps are receiving updates.

For many users, two of the most noteworthy improvements revolve around FaceTime. You can now view FaceTime video messages directly on your Watch and participate in Group FaceTime audio calls.

The upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will introduce exclusive features powered by the new S9 SiP, including on-device processing of Siri requests, rather than relying on Apple’s servers.

They will also support a new Double Tap feature designed by Apple to streamline the primary action in each app. Both of these devices will be available for purchase on September 22.
